Closet Raiders: linen slip

Hola from R’s closet!

To celebrate the first time the B&R have seen each other in nearly 6 months (the first time we’ve been in the same state for that matter) we’re bringing you the first of hopefully many installments of “Closet Raiders,” an idea we hold very close to our hearts. In starting this blog, one of our strongest motivations was the idea that a best friend can be better than a mirror. We’ve always operated that way in our own friendship and the blog was intended to extend the concept out into cyberspace.

I wake up every morning, look in my closet, decide there’s nothing to wear, have a nervous breakdown, and pull on a trusty American Apparel skirt with some flats and run out the door. R does the same, only with leggings and deep V’s. We have other options. The nervous breakdown and subsequent ubiquity of the same AA basics in our lives justĀ isn’t necessary. Sometimes it just takes a new perspective to make the same old pieces in your closet feel exciting again. A best friend can be your own personal stylist.

R and I started with a single item in her closet, a white linen slip, a created about a billion new outfits for her to wear. We decided it looked best with knee high socks and boots (a la Alexa Chung,) which remain a constant throughout, but even with some accessories in common, each look is decidedly unique.

Closet Raiders also emphasizes another important feature of our blog-style on a budget. Your closet may not actually require any additions, just a second set of eyes to make tired (or even puzzling) clothing seem fresh. And we’re assuming you can’t afford an actual stylist.

Plus it’s like playing life-size Barbies! And someone without a 36 inch inseam can live vicariously!

xoxo B
