Everything that’s old…Inspiration Part 2

Our basement may be filled with useless junk but it’s also filled with many a photo album. I’ve been in love with clothing and fashion since birth and my parents apparently loved documenting my sartorial escapades (there’s more than one photo of me clomping around in my mom’s high heels with half a pound of lipstick smeared all over my cheeks.) But we also have photos of me in the clothes I was allowed to wear out of the house. From the time I was physically able to dress myself, I had a choice in what I wore. When I turned up photos of my younger self having fun with clothes, I thought how cool it would be to create an outfit that she would love. I was 7 in 1993 and I was all about my cowboy boots (low top for real), bike shorts under dresses, wearing my ballet warmups to school, and the rhinestone Paris pin I’m rocking in this picture…man the 90’s were an underrated decade. Little B (b?) would have thought a 22 year old B in this outfit was like, totally cool. Duh hickey.

90’s Throwback outfit: shorts and headband, Lululemon; jacket, Juicy; boots, Frye; dress, Sussina? (no clue, I stole it from little sis); necklace, Charlotte

I had some old clothing boxes of my own down in the basement and among my beat up Doc Martens and lacrosse uniform (a sport I may or may not have played solely for the kilt) I found this Cynthia Rowley skirt I bought on the Armitage Street store in the 7th grade. If I had to guess, I’d say I wore it with a black GAP t-shirt and black Nine West wedges (if only because some things never change). Though I used to be far more adventurous with my clothes (today I doubt I’d even buy such a skirt) I’m much less afraid of accessories than I was in middle school and I love the polish my new favorite belt lends to an otherwise wacky piece.

Updating my curtains skirt: sweater, Splendid; belt, vintage; shoes, Coach
