Discount Duel: R’s JCPenney

So to be honest, I’m not sure I’ve ever been in a JCPenney store before. It was quite the experience to say the least. Saw: a meeting of the hot topic goth kids outside on some cement benches near the macy’s entrance, a girl try on a pair of jeans out in the open over her athletic shorts, The Hannah Montana clothing area, complete with strobe lighting and an excess of dayglow colors and finally the wanna Ralph Lauren section, appropriately titled “american living”.

Thank god for the business clothing section (and the outstanding door busters sale that started at 8am Friday… woo) everything was at least 50-75% off which made budgeting really easy.

I was going for a Alexander Wang/school girl/reformed goth look (cause that combination makes total sense) So i pulled a few blazers and a shirt with an exposed zipper and a pleated bubble skirt that was about 8 sizes too big for it to be high waisted like I wanted. Also, there are no Fitting Room attendants so you can take whatever the hell you want in there… I took a thin studded belt and some knee socks in with me and was later wishing that I would have hit up the shoe department for some shoes. My biggest problem: finding bottoms. Everything was either frumpy and mom-ish, too big, or just plain ugly.

WARNING: apparently my steadying skills were a bit off this trip so excuse the excessive blurry/drunk/beer goggle photos. and please ignore my gladiators… they would not realistically go with every outfit. obviously. I had about 4 different looks, here’s the best few:

look 1:        look 2:     look 3:

look 1: grey blazer $15, massive skirt $10 held up with studded belt $8, black t-shirt with exposed zipper $9

look 2: black knee socks $6, massive black skirt $10, black trench caplet $30

look 3: RL wannabe blazer ?, massive black skirt $10, black knee socks $6

My favorite look: look 2, the trench caplet was too adorable and i could totally picture myself wearing it back at school with riding boots and jeans or with a skirt, knee socks and booties. and its totally predictable of me to have my favorite outfit be all black. Anyways, due to my current broke state, I decided to simply take home the belt and de-girlie some of my ensembles.

Total: $44
