Hate ‘em or love ‘em, UGGs are the college girl’s staple winter boots. But they’re also everywhere!

I hear so many women claiming that the warmth and comfort of their UGGs are unparalleled. There are plenty of other cozy boots out there– why not add stylish, too? Stand out from the crowd in these UGG alternatives:

From top left:

Hunter Rainboots. Yes, they’re technically rainboots. But don’t pass them up just yet! This winter, I’ve been battling Chicago’s snow, ice, and sleet in Hunter rainboots. I love the look of these boots, which is a little more chic and streamlined than winter boots tend to be. They come in tons of colors, from the signature green to bright aqua. I’ve also seen ones with metallic finishes and reptile texturing. They’re completely waterproof, so feel free to splash through slush and puddles. And don’t worry about slipping, because the soles have great traction to avoid those embarrassing falls on icy sidewalks. Admittedly, Hunters aren’t super warm– they’re rubber, after all. For winter I recommend picking up some Hunter liners. They’ll keep your toes warm and look cute popped out over the top of the boot.

Report ‘Meloni’ Boots: I love the look of these lined boots. Gray is big this winter, and while it’s still a neutral, it’s a little less predictable than black or brown. These super stylish boots are also super warm, too. You have the option of wearing them pulled up to show just a peek of the inner faux fur, or you can cuff them to show more of the lining. See, you can be warm without sacrificing style!

La Canadienne ‘Charlize’ Boots. If you live in a cold climate where you find yourself trekking through snow regularly, it might be worth it to invest in a high-quality boot that will take you through the year. La Canadienne is famous for its winter boots that hold up during all sorts of weather. They’re cute, too! I chose this particular pair because they don’t look like your typical winter gear, but they’re totally winter-friendly. They’re waterproof, which will save you from wet feet and staining. They also have a heel low enough to still make it practical for winter conditions.

Minnetonka Front Lace Hardsole Knee-Highs. If you like the look and feel of moccasins in warmer weather, you’ll love these. Minnetonka makes authentic Native American footwear that’s comfortable and looks great. The length of these boots will flatter legs, making them look longer and leaner. I picture them with dark jeans and a slouchy cardigan– perfect for walking around campus. Unfortunately, these boots are made of suede, therefore not waterproof, so save them for dry days.

Puma ‘GV Snow Bucket’ Boots. For a more casual take on winter boots, I chose these athletic-inspired boots. The combination of puffy nylon and patent leather gives a sleek, urban look that’s funky and practical. The inside features a padded footbed for extra comfort. Pair them with skinny jeans and a cozy down coat, or take them out on the slopes.

Asos ‘Clive’ Leather Studded Work Boots. Sporty not your thing? These rocker boots can easily go from concert to campus. They are definitely practical, and a little wear will just add to their edgy appeal. They metal studs are a great detail that’s very right-now.

There are so many great options out there for winter boots, many of which have style and practicality that UGGs just don’t. What boots are you wearing this winter?
