Please Go Away, Uggs

Uggs. Everyone has heard of them, and I’d have to guess that about 50% of the female population between the ages of 16-23 either own a pair, or have considered buying a pair.. maybe even a couple pairs. Okay, I will admit. There was one tragically snow-filled day where I borrowed a pair of my sister’s “knock-off” Uggs to school, and during that 3-hour time frame I managed to tear open a good two inches of the top of the left boot when I flung a door open and a sharp edge hit it. Sheepskin fluff.. everywhere. And to this day I believe it was a sign. Yes, the boots are made from 100% Australian  Merino sheepskin and with every step you feel like you’re coasting along clouds but what is the fun of going winter after winter following the same exact “trend” that every other girl in your sociology lecture has followed? There’s so many other boots that are coming out this season that, I promise, are JUST as comfortable and have a lot more personality. Not to break any hearts out there, but Uggs are not even cute.. or waterproof for that matter. Last winter, I asked for a pair of handmade Mukluks for Christmas and while they did cost close to $100 more than what Uggs typically run, I have yet to run into someone that is trotting across campus in the same pair. Another plus: WAY more compliments from family, friends, and even strangers about finding a pair of boots that can’t be found on every pair of female feet in a mile-radius. I think it’s about time that we give this long-ago trend the boot.

Alright so who is with me here? Was anyone else done with this trend before it even came out?
