Leggings have paved their way as a wardrobe staple, and last fall we saw the emergence of cutout fashion. In addition to the resurgence of ripped jeans, it was only a matter of time before cutout leggings hit stores.

I haven‘t decided how I feel about cutout leggings just yet. I am a fan of the way Gaga paired them with otherwise conservative pieces: the scoop neck tee, blazer, and pumps. I’m not so fond of Rihanna’s take on the trend: her cutout leggings are more reminiscent of thigh-high fishnets. I think cutout leggings function more as tights than as leggings, because they are more of a way to adorn your legs than actually cover them. Plus, you can’t top them with a long tunic– these leggings are made to be shown off! How would you wear them? What are your thoughts on this edgy trend?
