The Museum of Modern Art showed its dark side Tuesday night as it paid tribute to legendary film director Tim Burton. The gala kicked off Burton’s MoMA exhibit, drawing crowds of die-hard fans dressed in their finest Edward Scissorhands and Batman attire. It was also host to a slew of celebrities including Johnny Depp, Brooke Shields, Danny DeVito, and even the elusive Anna Wintour. Fashion was at the forefront of the affair as attendees came to show off their duds. As stars trickled in, it became clear that black was the color of choice for the evening… because really, what else would you wear for Tim Burton?

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen stay fashion-forward as they translate upcoming trends. Ashley’s hair is streaked with pale blue, reminiscent of Proenza Schuler’s Spring 2010 runway show of unconventional hair color. Mary-Kate’s takes a tip from Rodarte, with dark red lips lined with black.

My vote for best-dressed goes to Ashley Greene– I love how she offset the short length of the dress with the high neckline and demure detailing of the lace and bow. Who do you think stole the show?
