Only one more day left of Fashion Week and the tents are far from dying down. Bryant Park tent virgin, Tory Burch, shows her line followed by gods of women’s fashion, Oscar de la Renta and Michael Kors. We are sure to see some fun and interesting looks from Anna Sui and Proenza Schouler. Only one more day left and we don’t want it to end…well, I don’t know about those of you who are sleep and meal deprived!
Tory Burch’s spring collection is filled with colorful jumpsuits, seperates and hot shoes! Her line is totally ready-to-wear and I am loving it. She brings in many different patterns from snakeskin and checkers (above) to tye-dye and floral, yet they all totally work! Burch ornaments a couple of her blouse/skirt looks with a belt and oversized belt buckle (it looks to me like three people standing in a row). From comfy casual in a sweater and khakis to sexy night out in a sparkling LBD, all of her outfits look easy, chic and (most importantly) comfortable! My favorite look is a black jacket, top and pant combination with tan moccasin-like flats. I could definitely see myself wearing this entire outfit all the time.
Showing elegant, red carpet-worthy dresses as usual, Oscar de la Renta also added tweed and rich colors to his collection this season. Heidi-like braids, hats and headwraps were all seen on the models down the runway. He took 30’s style derby hats and paired them with colorful tweed jackets and skirts to give them a retro yet modern look. Along with de la Renta’s fabulous gowns, he also created some fun party frocksto the mix. Some of my favorite looks of the collection were the the blue ones an oversized, safari-esque jacket and a navy ballgown with crystal encrusted bodice.
Michael Kors is all about the shifts. And why wouldn’t he be after the fabulousness of Blake Lively’s hot pink one and Angelina Jolie’s sexy black leather sheath. Metallic, black, blue, white and even polka dots, all with details like cutouts and zippers. He created separates with billowy tops, structured/crinkled skirts, jackets and shorts. The models also sported giant clear baublesaround their necks. Several Kors pieces features missing sections all over the garment (shoulders, legs, mid-sections).
Anna Sui’s spring collection is all about the circus. From the ringleader hat and jacket (above) to the tent portriat background, Sui was all over the place when it came to color and pattern. She took on a bit of a Western touch (maybe the girl at the circus that does crazy stunts on the horse?) at did a vest/plaid shirt/short combination with a couple of looks. In mixing with the circus, she also seemed to add a hippie, flower child element with lots of florals and flats. Other elements making a statement in Sui’s collection were plaids, orange, printed tights, vests (fitted and sweater) and extreme gladiators & flats (hmm, remember Marc Jacobs? New trend?).
Proenza Schouler’s collection seemed to be inspired by the sea and aquatic life. The bright neons remind me of SCUBA equipment and the bright greens are like seaweed. There were several looks that used metallic blue/green fabric reminded me of those fish you see in the coral reefs (think Dory from Finding Nemo) and the aqua blue dresses were definitely waves. But the whole collection was not totally marine life related. In contrast to all the blues, greens and yellows, the boys also created several black and white pieces. A classic white tee and black pants, white button-down and a black & silver patterned shiftwere among those ensembles.
