Yet another big day in NYC. We may be over the hump of the week, but the big names just keep coming! Today, not one, not two, but three CFDA Womenswear Designers of the Year award winners showed their collections. Narciso Rodriguez, Vera Wang, and most recent , Rodarte, are all sure to have fabulous spring collections come down the runway. And after recieving the title ”Mercedes-Benz Presents” designer for the Spring 2010 shows at Bryant Park, I am sure Rodriguez won’t disappoint. After last night’s show, can Marc Jacobs top himself with Marc by Marc Jacobs tonight? The anticipation is killing me!

Vera Wang Spring 2010

Vera Wang Spring 2010

Vera Wang’s spring collection is all about turning the simple into elegant. Most of Wang’s shapes and styles of dresses were very straight and simple, but she added detailing with ruffles and feathers on the shoulder and chest.  But it was her jewelry that really made a statement. Huge statement necklaces made of chains and beads really are what made some of her looks so great. Wang also featured tulle and sheer fabrics on tops and skirts of several looks.

Badgley Mischka Spring 2010

Like Vera Wang’s collection, Badgley Mischka also featured multiple bold statement necklaces (above). I have already spotted a couple red-carpet/premiere worthy dresses: a long, white ruffled skirt with black plunging V front boyfriend jacket on top and a black dress with crystal-encrusted top and ruffly, mermaid style bottom.  There are definitely many other black and white looks that are dying to be worn to a formal occasion. But they also kept springtime in mind with some crisp, white shorts and white suits. They brought life and modernity to classic pieces like the white blouse and the LBD in this collection.

Rodarte Spring 2010

Rodarte took a futuristic approach to their spring collection, with painted symbols on the models and a hazy green runway. All of their looks were pieced together from multiple different fabrics. The tops and dresses were constructed using strips of fabric and putting them all together. Some of the skirts had a sort of molded draping on them that made them more flowy than form fitting. A couple looks were bondage-esque with black fabric wrapped all around and thin stips hanging to the floor. Definitely a different look than we have been seeing!

Max Azria Spring 2010

Looks like the cat got to Max Azria’s collection…but in a good way. Max went with a shredded, but ladylike feel with some of his looks (above). A few of  his looks also had detailing like spiderweb straps  and cage detail on the dresses. He kept the colors muted with light beiges and greys and played with a lot of sheer fabrics, as well.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2010

Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2010

Fashion Week’s golden boy, Marc Jacobs, showed his more youthful line’s collection today following his namesake show last night. His spring collection all featured plaids, stripes, polka dots (<- Love that look) and fun colors. All models wore oversized bow headbands in bright colors. TONS of cute dresses, skirts, tops, jumpers & pants and all of them had trendy waist-cinching belts. If I woke up tomorrow and my closet was full of this collection, I would probably be the happiest person on Earth. I am a big fan of all his look that include shorts and the polka dot/green combinations. I wish I could tell you my favorite look, but there are just too many I adore. All of the looks are totally wearable and totally fun.

Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2010

After receiving Fashion Week’s “award” for the designer to watch out for, you know his spring collection had to be good. Rodriguez went with loose, simple silhouettes, but added sheer fabric, ruffles and zippers for fun details. His long dresses let the air in and almost floated down the runway. He also created many shifts ans sheaths like this black and tan silk and linen colorblock shift and this simple red sheath that balanced being sexy without being vulgar. My favorite looks are a black and white dress with bone-like detail and red around the edges and a “starry night” sparkling dress.
