As Fashion Week enters its second half, the shows just keep getting better and the anticipation is hightened. You would think people would get tired and slow down by this point, but oh no. The crowds came out today for big names like Donna Karan, Zac Posen, and Marc Jacobs – who Rachel Zoe (and many others, I’m sure) has described as being “the definition of New York Fashion Week.”  The fashion greats just keep on coming as the week progresses!

Jill Stuart Spring 2010

Jill Stuart’s spring collection is all about the details. Sequins, studs, fringe and cutouts (surprise!) all made an apperance on the runway on several looks. Colorful metallic dresses along with white dresses made the perfect contrast, yet totally went together on the catwalk. The shoes were awesome with most being lace-up and zip-up booties. One of my favorite looks was a white studded skirt and matching jacket (above) and you can’t forget the shoes. Stuart also added some Victorianelements with white lace. Pronounced, poufy shoulders were also featured on mutiple dresses and jackets.

Zac Posen Spring 2010

On purple shag carpet, Zac Posen’s colorful collection pops. His collection really runs the gamut of style and color. Funky florals, Asian-inspired dresses and peep-hole cutouts/slitswere seen on multiple looks. Posen also added detail with a basket weave patternand little appliqués like a well manicured hand and hearts. A couple of his more eye-catching looks were his dresses with feather detail on the sleeves (above) and his high waisted bright colored pants. While some looks do have patterns and floral prints, Posen created some looks which seem to be inspired my Mod fashion of the 60s.

Donna Karan Spring 2010

Donna Karan channeled the modern woman for this collection. It features a lot of looks for both day and night in a soft color palet with pops of red. She showed several looks with belted flowy dresses, tops and oversized shirtdresses. There are many jackets and pencil skirts fit for the chic business woman (though the plunging necklines would have to be covered. unfortunately.). I would love to rock this look in the office. A few models also strutted down the catwalk with these funky hats  that look like they are molded out of fabric.

Thakoon Spring 2010

Thakoon Spring 2010

Thakoon showed us lots of blue and watercolor prints in his spring collection. He used seaming and tweed sections to add depth and structure to his looks. He uses the same jagged pattern on several of his dresses in all different colors and fabrics. In mixing with his structured dresses, he has paired flowy tops, pants and dresses in all-over or blending floral and psychadelic paterns.

Marc Jacobs Spring 2010

And last, but definitely not least, Marc Jacobs. The most highly anticipated show of the night finally happened last night and with Madonna and Lady Gaga by your side, how could it be anything short of fabulous? Marc’s Japanese cabaret-inspired collection featured Japanese touches by models in chalky, white makeup and flat-soled shoes (that’s right people, NO heels!) and tight little buns.  There were ruffles, scrunchies and little satin bralets (above) worn over button-down knits. All on one person. I am kinda obsessed with a green army jacket that made multiple appearances paired with a ruffly dress, while similar variations came down the runway accompanying other ruffled ensembles. And obviously, since I have seen in on just about every runway for this season, there are more cutouts! Marc stayed true to Marc and continued his magical touch of layering clothes without making them look heavy. He snuck little touches of his grunge roots in there, but still managed to stay romantic.
