The Council of Fashion Designers of America has made the addition of 31 new designers to its council. Young designers like Jason Wu, Alexander Wang and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are among the 31 to join the CFDA. Not too long ago, these designers were winning at the CFDA awards. Alexander Wang and Tim Hamilton both won the Swarovski Award for Womenswear (Wang) and Menswear. The Board of Director’s Special Tribute went to Michelle Obama, who wore Jason Wu to the Inaugural Ball. Now, all theses award-winning designers are part of the council who awarded them.
President, Diane von Furstenburg, has upped the number of inductees over the last few years from around 20 to now 30. She believes fashion and design are all about “inclusiveness” and considers the CFDA to be her extended family. Check out the list to see all of the new members of the CFDA:
